LTA manages the construction of new Rapid Transit System (RTS) projects, as well as upgrading of existing rail lines. Besides RTS projects, LTA also enhances the road network and provides motorists with a greater choice of travel routes by carrying out projects to widen, upgrade and build new roads. In addition, it manages and maintains road structures and facilities so that they are operational at all times. Our current major projects include the fully underground 33km long MRT railway Circle Line (CCL) with an underground depot, Boon Lay MRT Extension Line (BLE), the fully underground Downtown Line (DTL) and the underground road tunnels of the Kallang/Paya Lebar Expressway. Besides land transport infrastructural development, LTA also covers regulatory and maintenance functions and you can look forward to a good range of challenges and opportunities within LTA.

LTA obtained the People Developer Award in December 2001. It is a quality standard that gives recognition to organisations which invest in their people and have a comprehensive system for developing their staff. We believe in investing in our people. To bring out your fullest potential, we have in place a structured learning and development framework.
The competency-based HR system employs learning needs analysis to identify areas of weakness in two broad categories:
 | Core
Competencies This applies to all in the organisation. These are competencies that contribute to organisational performance and strengthen the organisation's strategic aims. | |
Functional Competencies These are knowledge, skills and attributes required in specific areas of responsibilities. All staff members have an electronic training roadmap that tracks the learning programmes they need to achieve the required competencies. |
