1,600 cc < EC £ 3,000 cc
$475 + 0.75 x (EC – 1,600)
[$475 + 0.75 x (EC – 1,600)] x 0.92
EC > 3,000 cc
$1,525 + 1.0 x (EC – 3,000)
[$1,525 + 1.0 x (EC – 3,000)] x 0.92

* Effective from 1 September 2002.

** Effective from 1 September 2007.

Road Tax of company cars that are registered with COEs before Mar 1998 will pay twice the road tax rate.

Example 1:

If your car's engine capacity is 1600 cc (ie EC = 1600), the road tax will be as follows:

 Road Tax  = $250 + 0.375 x (1600 - 1000)
   = $250 + 0.375 x (600)
 = $250 + 225
 = $475

Therefore the road tax is $475 (for 6-month) or $950 (for 12 months)

Example 2 (from 1 September 2007 onwards):

If your car's engine capacity is 1600 cc (ie EC = 1600), the road tax will be as follows:

 Road Tax  = [$250 + 0.375 x (1600 - 1000)] x 0.92
   = [$250 + 0.375 x (600)] x 0.92
 = [$250 + 225] x 0.92
 = $475 x 0.92

Therefore the road tax is $437 (for 6-month) or $874 (for 12 months)
