News Releases
From the first quarter of 2017, commuters travelling on the North-South Line (NSL) will enjoy shorter waits during peak hours with an upgraded signalling system that allows trains to run at shorter intervals. This means more frequent train arrivals, faster journeys and less crowding . The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT have commenced tests on the new signalling system, by running trains fitted with the new system on the NSL during engineering hours. As the move to an entirely new signalling system is a complex project, more time will be devoted to do more extensive tests to ensure the reliability of the system before launching it. For more information, please refer to the attached news release.
