Joint News Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & TransitLink - Towards a Cashless Public Transport System by 2020
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and TransitLink are working towards a fully cashless vision for public transport by 2020, in line with our Smart Nation efforts. To realise this vision, LTA and TransitLink will launch a series of initiatives where commuters will no longer use cash to pay for rides or to top up stored-value cards. Joint News Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & Mastercard - LTA Pilots Account-Based Ticketing System for Public Transport with Mastercard
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Mastercard are jointly launching a pilot of the Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) System for public transport, by allowing the usage of contactless credit cards and contactless debit cards for fare payments. Singapore will be the first in Asia, and one of the few cities in the world, to enable this. For more details, please refer to the attached news release.

Joint News Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & Mastercard - LTA and Mastercard Collaborate to Pilot Account-Based Ticketing System in Singapore’s Transit System
LTA and Mastercard have signed a partnership agreement to launch the Account-Based Ticketing system pilot by the end of the year. The pilot will give registered Mastercard cardholders the convenience of tapping their existing contactless credit and debit cards to pay for train and bus journeys, eliminating the need for a separate transit card and fare top-ups. LTA to Pilot Account-Based Ticketing System
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be conducting a pilot for an Account-Based Ticketing System in the fourth quarter of this year to study the feasibility of implementing such a system in future. A tender has been called to appoint a consultancy to study the feasibility of implementing Account-based Ticketing in future, while another tender will be called to appoint an acquiring bank for the pilot.
