The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is pleased to announce the alignment and station locations for Phase 1 of the Cross Island Line (CRL). The CRL is our eighth MRT line, and our longest fully underground line. When fully completed, it will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors, linking major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and Changi region. The projected daily ridership of the entire CRL is more than 600,000 in the initial years, increasing to over 1 million in the longer term. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed Site Investigations (SI) for two alignment options that are being studied for the underground Cross Island Line (CRL) in the vicinity of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR). These investigations took place between May 2016 and September 2017, and are the first steps in assessing the feasibility of the two CRL alignment options, directly underneath or skirting round the CCNR. Monitoring results from cameras and transect surveys from the SI works for the direct alignment suggested that fauna are present in the area, following the completion of SI works within the CCNR. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will put out a tender today to appoint a specialist for site investigation works for the direct alignment option of the Cross Island Line (CRL). This is in addition to the SI works for the skirting alignment option which started last month. For more details, please refer to the attached news release.

LTA has appointed Environmental Resources Management (S) Pte Ltd to carry out the Environmental Impact Assessment for the portion of the Cross Island Line around the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. The EIA report, targeted for completion in 2016, will assist the Government in making a considered decision on the eventual CRL alignment. Please see the attached news release for more information.
