Factsheet: Stricter Enforcement and Education to Deter Errant Use of PMDs
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is stepping up efforts to deter errant use of Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) on roads and encourage safe riding habits. Besides the enhanced penalties for on-road use that take effect today, LTA will roll out the Safe Riding Programme (SRP) from 1 February 2018 to educate cyclists and PMD users on safe riding habits. Factsheet: Developing Technological Solutions to Meet Transport Challenges
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) seeks to partner the research community and industry in co-creating innovative and practical solutions to meet Singapore’s current transport challenges. To this end, LTA has today launched two grant calls inviting the research community and industry to submit research and development proposals aimed at improving our land transport system. Factsheet: Have a “Tropical” Christmas, Buy a Knackstop Gift that Keeps on Giving!
In celebration of the Christmas ‘sea-sun’, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in collaboration with SBS Transit (SBST), have decked out trains, buses and an MRT station in a ‘Tropical Christmas’ theme. Together with beneficiaries from the Viriya Family Services Centre, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan took a ride on one of the Tropical Christmas-themed trains on the North East Line today. Factsheet: Technology for Depots and Trains to Improve Rail Reliability
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan visited the Tuas West Depot this morning, where the Land Transport Authority (LTA) – with the support of ST Engineering and public transport operators, SMRT Trains and SBS Transit – demonstrated how nine technological innovations can help value-add and enhance the efficiency of different work processes within and beyond the train depots. Factsheet: Status of Construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line
The 43km Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) will add 31 new stations to the existing rail network, with seven interchange stations linking the TEL to all five existing MRT lines. Besides enhancing connectivity between the north, central and eastern parts of Singapore, the TEL will strengthen the resilience of our rail network by providing alternative travel routes for commuters on other lines. Factsheet: Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM)
As part of the works for Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), LTA embarked on a pilot project to construct pedestrian underpasses with a Rectangular Tunnel Boring Machine (RTBM) at two sites at Havelock and Stevens stations to leverage on this method to increase productivity. Factsheet: Celebrating Downtown Line 3 with You!
To celebrate the latest addition to Singapore’s rail network, the Land Transport Authority is holding the Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) Open House today to give commuters and their families a free preview of the DTL3’s 16 new stations. Themed “Rail of Fun”, everyone can enjoy the fun-filled activities at the stations stretching from Fort Canning Station to Expo Station, from 10am to 6pm.
