Update on LTA Investigations into the North-South Line Service Disruption on 7 and 8 October 2017
Investigations by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have revealed that a combination of factors caused the flooding in the tunnels between Bishan and Braddell MRT stations on 7 October 2017. For more information, please refer to the attached news release.

Joint Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & SMRT - System-Level Performance Checks Continue On North-South Line Signalling System
Attached is an LTA-SMRT joint media release which serves as an update since full-day weekday trials for the new signalling system began on the NSL on 29 May 2017. In the coming weeks, we will continue to conduct intensive performance checks and deploy new software to improve the system. For more information, please refer to the attached news release.

Joint Statement by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & SMRT - North-South Line Signalling System Glitches on 1 June and 2 June
Since 28 March, LTA and SMRT, together with Thales, the supplier of the new signalling system for North-South Line (NSL), have been running tests progressively since 28 March. Phase One of the tests started with the last hour of passenger service on selected weekdays. For more information, please refer to the attached joint news release.

Joint Media Release by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) & SMRT - New Signalling System Trial on North-South Line Begins on 28 March 2017
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT will trial the new signalling system on the North-South Line (NSL) during the last hour of passenger service from 28 March 2017. The signalling system upgrade is part of LTA and SMRT’s on-going efforts to rejuvenate our ageing rail network. It involves upgrading the NSL’s signalling system from the existing Fixed Block System to the more advanced Communications-Based Train Control System. Work Starts for Canberra MRT Station on North-South Line
The Land Transport Authority has commenced works to construct the Canberra MRT station along the North-South Line. Located between Sembawang and Yishun stations and along Canberra Link, Canberra station will serve commuters living in nearby estates such as Sembawang Springs, as well as upcoming residential developments in the neighbourhood. Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange to be Upgraded Temporary Relocation from 12 March 2016
LTA will refurbish the Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange and build an underpass. To make way for the construction, the existing Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange will be temporarily relocated from 12 March 2016, to an adjacent site along Woodlands Square. 12 More Trains to Boost Capacity of North-South and East-West Lines
The Land Transport Authority has awarded a contract worth approximately S$136.8 million to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd/CSR Qingdao Sifang Co. Ltd/Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. Consortium for the purchase of 12 six–car trains for the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL). For more information, please refer to the attached news release.
