The new Canberra MRT station on the North-South Line (NSL) will open for service on 2 November 2019. This was announced by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan when he visited the station site today to observe the final day of the three-day staged NSL closures to facilitate works for Canberra station. To facilitate installation works for a crossover track near the new Canberra MRT station, parts of the North-South Line (NSL) will be closed over the Vesak Day long weekend from 18 to 20 May 2019. During this three-day period, shuttle bus services will be available for affected commuters. Service on the rest of NSL will run as per normal throughout the long weekend. With 75 per cent of construction completed, the new Canberra station along the North-South Line (NSL) is on track to open by this year. The next stage of construction involves connecting the two existing tracks to and from Canberra station with a new 72-metre long crossover track. The construction works for the crossover will require a three-day, staggered closure of up to five MRT stations between Admiralty and Yio Chu Kang stations.
