The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed a 13km network of dedicated cycling paths in Bedok town. Bedok is the second town in Singapore – after Ang Mo Kio – to feature red cycling paths. These paths help to alert pedestrians to the presence of cyclists and personal mobility device (PMD) users and have proven to be very popular amongst Bedok residents as they are easily distinguishable from the regular footpaths. Going car-lite in the Jurong Lake District (JLD), Singapore’s second Central Business District, is now easier with the completion of a 15km dedicated cycling path network. JLD is the 8th intra-town cycling path network in Singapore. This is part of the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) long term plan to progressively construct dedicated cycling path networks in all HDB towns to enhance first and last mile connections. Pasir Ris has joined Tampines and Sembawang as the first HDB towns with their very own network of intra-town dedicated cycling paths. This is part of the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) plans to build intra-town cycling path networks in all HDB towns by 2030, which will make cycling safer, more convenient and enjoyable. It will now be safer to ride a bicycle in Sembawang, with the completion of the 10.7km cycling path network under the National Cycling Plan. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will also begin constructing another 13.8km of cycling paths in Yishun. For more information, please refer to the attached news release.

The cycling network at Marina Bay is set to take shape as the Land Transport Authority (LTA) start works on the first phase of the network. The first phase will comprise a 2.5km cycling path along a section of Marina Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue and Marina Gardens Drive and is expected to complete by the first quarter of 2013.
