The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded an S$18.8 million contract to a Siemens Pte Ltd and ST Engineering Electronics Limited consortium to develop and implement a Rail Enterprise Asset Management System (REAMS). LTA currently tracks asset information using multiple systems on individual lines. REAMS will integrate asset information and maintenance records across the entire rail system, so that the health of the various operating assets can be monitored holistically over their respective lifecycles. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and train operator SMRT have made significant progress in rejuvenating the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) through additional engineering hours over 10 weekends since December 2017. The early closure, late opening and full Sunday closure of MRT stations on weekends have provided additional time for our engineering teams to carry out planned maintenance and renewal works on the tracks, stations and train depots. As part of ongoing efforts to revitalise our existing rail lines, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been renewing our existing trains and injecting new trains into the MRT network. This will help to improve rail reliability and provide additional capacity to meet growing commuter demand, especially on our oldest North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL). To enhance the reliability of our Light Rail Transit (LRT) systems, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the public transport operators have embarked on a series of renewal and improvement works for both the Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT) and the Sengkang-Punggol LRT (SPLRT) systems. For the first time ever, the biannual signalling conference, Automation, Signalling, Performance, Equipment, Control, Communications, or ASPECT, is being held outside of the United Kingdom. The ASPECT Singapore 2017, which takes place from 27 November to 1 December 2017, is jointly organised by the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), and supported by event partners the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Singapore Rail Academy (SGRA).
