Traffic wardens not above the law

Media Replies 21 Oct 2012

We refer to Ms Wendy Yuen’s letter “Traffic wardens must act fairly and consistently” (The Straits Times, 14 October 2012).

When off-duty, our enforcement officers are required to comply with the same parking regulations as all other motorists.

On occasion, on-duty enforcements officers need to stop their motorcycles at no parking locations, without obstructing traffic, to take enforcement action.

Separately, to update Ms Yuen with regard to her comment on the illegally parked car at a T-junction, when our enforcement officers checked the site, no car was present. Should it occur again, we would like to request that Ms Yuen please report it to our 1 800 –CALL LTA line so that we can follow up on it.

We thank Ms Yuen for her feedback.
