North East Line Train Service Resumes Full Operation Following Morning Disruption

News Releases 10 Jan 2013 North East Line (NEL) train service disruptions

Train services on the North East Line (NEL) between Dhoby Ghaut and HarbourFront stations resumed normal operation at 4.32pm, following rectification of a power fault, which affected 58,000 commuters since 10.14am today.

2. Based on preliminary investigation, the disruption was traced to three broken U-bolts between HarbourFront and Outram Park stations. This caused a misalignment in the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) which resulted in a power trip.

3. The LTA-SBST joint team, recently formed in October 2012, will investigate this incident and devote more attention to this stretch of the NEL, which has seen more than one disruption since March 2012, in order to improve the reliability of train services.
