The Land Transport Authority (LTA) invites the public to visit the new Downtown Line 1 (DTL1) stations from Chinatown to Bugis at the DTL1 Open House this Saturday, 7 December, from 10am to 6pm. This full day open house event will give the public the opportunity to have a sneak preview of the stations before the first stretch of the DTL opens for passenger service on Sunday, 22 December.

Music Through The Years – There’s Something for Everyone

2.  DTL1 Open House is a full day of fun-filled entertainment for the entire family, both young and old alike.

3.  During the Open House, you can take unlimited free rides along DTL1 to explore and view the different architectural details as well as the Art-in-Transit artworks unique to each station. DTL1 features six MRT stations, Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Downtown, Bayfront, Promenade and Bugis. The activities and entertainment will take place at four stations - Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Downtown, and Bugis.

Open House Highlights

5.  Catch Singapore’s favourite “Broadway Beng” Sebastian Tan at Bugis station, 10.00am, for a song medley representing the different music eras. For a local dose of disco fever, sway your hips and point your disco fingers with celebrity host Chua En Lai at Telok Ayer station. Revel in the era of music videos from the 80s and 90s at Downtown station, play a game of “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” and be a “Karaoke King” for the day. At Chinatown station, take photos with pop icon impersonators like Ge Lan, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley while popular DJ Wong Wen Hong brings you through classic tunes from the 60s.

6.  In addition, grassroots organizations from the Moulmein-Kallang and Tanjong Pagar GRCs will put up performances like samba drumming, Cantonese opera, bhangra dance and zumba at the stations. There will be stage games with fabulous prizes and premiums up for grabs. Kids can also have their face painted and be a “guitar hero” for a day with the Rock Band Wii provided at Telok Ayer station. Please see Annex A for more details of the programmes.

7.  Around 30,000 copies of LTA’s publication “Downtown Line Times” will be up for grabs at the four stations. Find out the happening places to eat, shop and play around the new stations and go behind-the-scenes to find out some fun facts in relation to the construction of DTL1.

8.  Have you seen these hangers in the train system recently? All four designs of the train hangers are currently available on board the trains on different lines. The train hangers feature some fun and simple activities, such as a cross-word puzzle or a join-the-dots diagram to occupy your time onboard and make your commute more enjoyable. Just for the Open House, you will find all four designs hanging in the brand new Downtown Line trains. Take the chance to collect all four designs!
