Covered linkways to connect Bukit Panjang malls to transport nodes

Media Replies 07 Mar 2013

We refer to Mr Neo Lin Chen’s letter ‘Improve access to Bukit Panjang malls’ (ST Online, 26 Feb)

Come 2015, the new Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub will allow commuters and residents to run errands or shop conveniently before transferring to their connecting bus or train. The new Integrated Transport Hub will be connected to Bukit Panjang Plaza and Junction 10 via covered linkways.

From Bukit Panjang Plaza, LTA will build a covered linkway to the junction of Jelebu Road and Bukit Panjang Road. The linkway will connect to the existing bus stop along Bukit Panjang Road and continue to the Bukit Panjang Downtown Line (DTL) station entrance A along Upper Bukit Timah Road. Similarly, another set of covered linkways will link Bukit Panjang Plaza to the new bus interchange.

LTA will also provide covered linkway from Junction 10 to the junction of Woodlands Road and Choa Chu Kang Road. The covered linkway will continue along Upper Bukit Timah Road and connect to the bus stop and entrance of the Bukit Panjang DTL station entrance B. There will also be another covered linkway from the entrance of Junction 10 to the bus stop and pedestrian overhead bridge along Woodlands Road.

Service C on the Bukit Panjang LRT currently operates from 10.00am to 4.00pm and from 9.00pm to 11.10pm, Mondays to Fridays, and from 10.00am to 11.10pm on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.  To optimise usage of the trains, SMRT deploys more trains for the popular service route A and B that run between Choa Chu Kang via Senja and Choa Chu Kang via Petir stations respectively.

We will review the routes and train deployment arrangements when the 13 new trains are added into the network from 2015.
