Agencies doing roadworks must reinstate surface

Media Replies 13 Jul 2013

We refer to Mr Lawrence Loh Kiah Muan’s letter , ‘Who's in charge of road quality after excavation work?’(ST Online, 4 Jul).

Under existing guidelines, any agency undertaking road works on public roads must reinstate and resurface the full width of the affected lane after they have completed their works. LTA will also inspect the site to ensure that the road is properly reinstated.

Our records show that Mr Loh called us on 26 Jun 2013, two days before our site inspection.  Our inspection showed that SP PowerGrid had resurfaced the road lane affected by cable work. However, we noted that there were some tyre marks left by the heavy vehicles used by the cable contractor. There was also evidence of crack lines that existed prior to the cable works. We have since repaired the crack lines and will work with SP PowerGrid to remove the tyre marks by end of the month.

We thank Mr Loh for his feedback.
