Prompt repairs for faulty train arrival info panels

Media Replies 29 Jul 2013

WE REFER to Mr Kuan Weng Chi's letter ("Time to fix train arrival info panels"; Forum Online, July 19).

Train arrival information panels are indeed useful in helping commuters decide whether they have sufficient time to wait for the next train, given a choice. We therefore place them in high commuter traffic areas such as entrances, fare-gates, platforms and transfer corridors.

Currently, both operators are able to keep informational panels in working condition more than 95 per cent of the time. If the information panels are not working properly, operators have to repair them within one to two days. Operators have been reminded to ensure repairs are made promptly to minimise inconvenience to commuters. Commuters can help report defective information panels to the operators on 1800-3368900 (SMRT) or 1800-2872727 (SBS Transit).

We have also taken in Mr Kuan's feedback on the placement of signs at HarbourFront and Outram Park stations and will work with the operator to relocate these signs to improve the sightline.

We thank Mr Kuan for his feedback.
