Factors limiting number of cabs in taxi-stand queues

Media Replies 08 May 2014

We refer to the letter from Teo Kueh Liang (“Cab limit at taxi stands unhelpful”) in The Straits Times (28 April 2014).
The number of taxis allowed to queue at taxi stands takes into consideration site constraints and traffic flow so as not to pose a danger to other road users. Where space allows for more taxis to queue safely, more taxis are allowed to queue.

For example, the taxi stand along Lorong 2 Toa Payoh allows for up to 10 taxis to queue for passengers as the site allows for a dedicated queuing lane for taxis.
