Friday night/ Saturday morning
All train services, both MRT and LRT, will operate overnight on Friday, 27 March, at frequencies of up to 20 minutes, for members of the public who wish to pay their last respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew at Parliament House.
41 feeder bus services that will provide connectivity between the train stations and the residential areas will also operate through the night.
In addition, SBS Transit and SMRT will operate their normal 13 night bus services tonight (Friday, 27 March) from 12.00am to 2.00am. These provide connections to major residential areas such as Jurong, Bukit Batok, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Sengkang and Tampines.
Saturday night/ Sunday morning
We will not be able to run train services overnight on Saturday night as the public transport operators (PTOs) will need to carry out maintenance of the trains and tracks to ensure that our MRT and LRT services run safely and reliably, given that such works cannot be done tonight.
Maintenance works on Saturday night/early Sunday morning will also need to be intensified in view of the fact that train services may be ramped up on Sunday to ferry the many Singaporeans who may want to pay their last respects to the late Mr Lee during the State Funeral Procession.
LTA will work with the PTOs on other public transport arrangements, such as those provided on Thursday night/Friday morning. These may include slightly extended hours of train and feeder bus service operation, as well as overnight operation of night bus services and some normal bus services plying city routes. More details will be provided tomorrow.
