Temporary walkway safety

Media Replies 31 Jul 2015

We refer to Mr Ronald Lee Yew Kee’s letter “Make temporary walkway safer’” (ST Online, 22 July 2015).

For the safety of pedestrians using the temporary walkway, we have installed sufficient lighting to ensure that it is well-lit.  In tandem with the construction of the Thomson-East Coast Line Outram Park station, the temporary walkway will be closed by the end of this year. Pedestrians can then use the existing diverted footpath along Outram Road and Eu Tong Sen Street to commute to and from Outram Park MRT station and Pearls Centre.

Meanwhile, please be assured that we will continue to monitor the condition of the temporary walkway to ensure that it remains safe for users.

We thank Mr Lee for his suggestion and we look forward to his continued support for the construction of the Thomson – East Coast Line in the coming years.
