In celebration of the Christmas ‘sea-sun’, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in collaboration with SBS Transit (SBST), have decked out trains, buses and an MRT station in a ‘Tropical Christmas’ theme. Themed stations, trains and buses are part of LTA’s efforts to liven up the commuting experience during festive seasons and foster a positive commuter culture.
2. Starting from today until 31 December, commuters will be greeted by our Graciousness characters in the midst of palm trees, cheery flamingos and nutcrackers dressed in tropical shirts, on trains plying SBST’s Downtown and North East Lines, as well as SMRT’s North-South/East-West Lines. The concourse area in Dhoby Ghaut Station has also been decorated in a similar theme, so that commuters transiting between rail lines can soak in the Christmas holiday atmosphere. Commuters transiting between rail lines can also experience the festivities at Dhoby Ghaut Station concourse. For the first time, five buses on Service numbers 5, 7, 30, 65 and 197 will also be decked out in this year’s merry and bright theme. Please find photos of the themed station, trains and buses appended below.
3. Together with beneficiaries from the Viriya Family Services Centre, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan took a ride on one of the Tropical Christmas-themed trains on the NEL today.
