Factsheet: Knackstop Turns One!

News Releases 23 Mar 2017 Factsheet Knackstop collectibles

Knackstop – a collection of creative and practical keepsakes inspired by the Singapore public transport system – turns one this month! Evoking playfulness and quirkiness yet relatable by all, “Knackstop” is a wordplay of ‘next stop’ and ‘knick knacks’. Its logo is derived from public transport elements – colours used are from Singapore’s various train lines while the alphabet “O” is represented by a bus buzzer.

2          With every Knackstop purchase, nett proceeds go towards LTA Cares Fund to help the needy with their transportation needs. To date, Knackstop has contributed more than $50,000 to charity!

3          In conjunction with Knackstop’s first anniversary, we will be introducing the new “Fun Facts” range inspired by a series of whimsical illustrations about the interesting facts behind Singapore’s transportation system. Please see Annex A for the new products.

4          Singaporeans also got to be part of this collection, where two winning submissions of the “Colour Your Ride” contest[1] were weaved into the design of adhesive tapes. These two adhesive tapes (sold as a bundle set), which feature our first two MRT stations, Bishan and Toa Payoh, were launched on 1 February 2017, for Valentine’s Day. There are also four additional specially-designed adhesive tapes in the “Fun Fact” Collection.

5          Ms Enid Sim, whose colouring entry inspired one of the final designs of the adhesive tape said, “As an art teacher and commuter myself, I hope that my rides would be less sterile; it really was the cherry on the cake when my colouring entry inspired the final designs of the tape”. Ms Angelyn Chew, the other winner added, “I travel on public transport everyday, I think it is our role to keep the trains clean, just as how we treat our own home”.

6          In addition to this new “Fun Facts” range, Knackstop also features two other collections, the “Public Transport-Inspired collectibles” and the “Graciousness-themed collectibles”. With more than 30 products under Knackstop, there will be something for everyone, whether it is to reminisce transport memories of the past or to remember the first time you met someone special on your ride. You could take home a miniature train that doubles up as a thumb-drive, or a keychain which resembles the bus bell, actual sound included.
