Morning ERP activated at KPE southbound after Defu Flyover
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has completed its quarterly review of traffic conditions on roads and expressways, and will be revising the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at the following location:

Morning ERP on KPE southbound after Defu Flyover
2 ERP gantries were constructed as part of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) to provide the option of road pricing should traffic conditions along the north east corridor worsen with future development. As announced in September 2016, LTA has been reviewing the need for ERP to manage traffic congestion along the stretch of the southbound KPE between Tampines Expressway and Airport Road during the morning peak hours on weekdays.
3 The latest quarterly review shows that traffic speeds along this stretch have consistently remained below the optimal speed range of 45km/h to 65km/h for the last 2.5 years, dipping to as low as 30 km/h. To manage this congestion, LTA will activate the ERP gantry situated at KPE southbound after Defu Flyover during morning peak hours. Please refer to the Annex for the gantry’s location.
4 The gantry will start operation from 8 May 2017. The rates are shown below.

Alternative transport options
5 LTA has been improving public transport options to cater to the growing population in the north-east area of Singapore and encourage public transport usage. For example, City Direct Services 654, 660, 666, 671 and 672 bring residents directly to and from the Central Business District (CBD) during morning and evening peak periods. In addition, 18 new trains have been added to the North East Line. This will help to reduce crowding and shorten wait times, especially during peak periods.
6 In the longer term, residents can also look forward to the North East Line extension to Punggol North, and the Cross Island Line (CRL) which will provide more direct connections across the eastern and western parts of Singapore, as well as significantly shorten journey times to other parts of the island.
