3 MRT stations have new entrances

Media Replies 22 Jun 2012

We thank Mr Ng Hong Peow for his letter “Create more entrances at older MRT stations” (TODAY, 16 June). He will be pleased to note that work has already started on the upgrading of three existing MRT stations – Clementi, Commonwealth and Queenstown – to cater to the expected growth in travel demand due to new developments in these areas.

As part of the improvement works, new station entrances equipped with fare gates and ticketing machines will be constructed at these three MRT stations. Each station will also have an additional pedestrian link bridge linking the station to the pavements on both sides of the road. These enhancements will help to alleviate congestion on the existing link bridges of the three stations, especially during the morning and evening peak periods.

Work is expected to be completed at these three stations by mid-2015.
