Ambulances can use bus lanes in emergencies

Media Replies 31 Oct 2014

We refer to Mr David Goh Kia Ngan’s letter ‘Why can't private ambulances use bus lanes?’ (ST, 27 Oct).

Ambulances may use the bus lanes when delivering patients in a medical emergency and should sound their sirens to signal this to other traffic. In fact, motorists should be reminded to give way to all ambulances activating sirens as this indicates a medical emergency on board.

We thank Mr Goh for this chance to clarify and will use this opportunity to remind all ambulance service providers that their vehicles may use the bus lanes.
