Bridge contractors reminded about warning signs

Media Replies 16 Mar 2011

We thank Mr Norman Lee for his feedback "No prior warning of lane closures" (Straits Times Interactive, 8 March 2011).

All contractors undertaking road works along the expressways are required to seek the Land Transport Authority (LTA)'s approval before they can commence any work. To ensure safety, LTA will require all contractors who are doing works on the expressways to place cones and signs ahead of the work area to give motorists sufficient warning ahead of time. LTA will also inform motorists through the use of EMAS signs along the expressways, when works are ongoing.

We have reminded the contractors carrying out works on Benjamin Sheares Bridge to ensure that their work is carried out safely, without compromising the safety of other motorists.
