No More East-West Divide

Freeing roads above ground from high-speed traffic, MCE’s 5km long tunnel will be the vital link between eastern and western Singapore. MCE will interchange with KPE/ECP and AYE with direct connections to Marina South and Straits View areas.

Widest & Deepest – Our Most Ambitious Project Yet

MCE will have the widest road tunnel in Singapore, with five lanes going in each direction.  Excavated in reclaimed land, its total excavation volume is about 3 million cubic metres. That’s about 1,200 Olympic swimming pools.

Hit the Road to Get an Under the Sea Experience

With 13.1 hectares of reclaimed land and a 420m section that runs below the seabed of Marina Bay Channel, MCE will be a formidable building challenge. The construction of the 420m long undersea tunnel will be carried out n stages  to avoid causing disruption to the water discharge from Marina Barrage into the sea, and to allow small crafts and vessels to access Marina Bay. And when completed, it will be first underground sea tunnel built of its kind in Singapore.

Converting Part of the ECP into a Major Arterial Road

MCE will replace part of the East Coast Parkway (ECP) at Marina Centre, Bayfront and Central sub zones in line with the overall land use plan in the Marina Bay area. This part of the ECP and its adjoining slip roads will be realigned and converted into a major arterial road to serve the Marina Bay area.
