Completion of Vehicular Tunnels

January 2012

3 vehicular tunnels connecting motorists from Serangoon Rd to Upper Serangoon Rd, Upper Serangoon Rd to Bendemeer Rd and MacPherson Rd to Bendemeer Rd have been completed. With its official opening on 28 January 2012, motorists can look forward to a smoother journey, as they no longer need to stop at the busy Woodsville Junction.

To test the operational readiness and inter-agency coordination in dealing with road incidents, LTA conducted an emergency exercise on 6 January 2012 together with Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Switchover of ERP Gantries at Woodsville Interchange

2011

With the opening of WVT, LTA has reinstated the ERP gantry along Bendemeer Rd to its original position about 100m from its current location.

As an alternative route leading towards the city centre, a new gantry situated at the exit of the new WVT towards Bendemeer Rd is also in operation. The new gantry manages traffic on the radial roads leading towards the city centre.

Removal of Whampoa North

September 2011

The existing at-grade road junction was also reconfigured to improve overall traffic flow.  Whampoa North Interchange was removed in September 2011.

Woodsville flyover

Completion of Flyover

July 2011

Opened and completed in July 2011, this 400m long flyover allows motorists to bypass the Woodsville Junction. It starts from Jalan Toa Payoh, connects to Jalan Kolam Ayer and finally reaches Kallang Way and PIE (Changi).

Project community and control centre

Keeping the Community Up-to-Date

September 2008

LTA set up a project community and control centre, where officers and residents living near the construction site engaged in dialogue about the upgrading of Woodsville Interchange. The one-stop centre for stakeholders has been well received by the public. As the project draws to a close, it ceased operations on 29 February 2012.

Woodsvile Interchange was built in 1982 to provide a two-lane flyover between Jalan Kolam Ayer and Jalan Toa Payoh (both roads are now known as PIE).
