Bus technicians play an integral role in ensuring public buses perform optimally for safe and reliable journeys. Jointly organised by the SGBA and the NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i), the Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge was launched on 15 November 2021. The Challenge aims to promote a culture of technical excellence across the bus industry, raise technical skills and standards, as well as elevate professional recognition for our bus technical workforce.

The 2nd Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge was held on 26 November 2022 at the Ngee Ann City, Civic Plaza. The event attracted more attendees and showcased exciting technical and engineering opportunities in the bus industry. A new category was launched for students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to showcase their interest in automotive engineering and inspire them to consider a technical career in land transport. The new students’ category comprised eight teams with participants competing from six IHLs – Institute of Technical Education, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and Singapore Institute of Technology.
