Marina South Pier Station to Open on 23 November

News Releases 17 Nov 2014 North South Line (NSL)

The Marina South Pier (MSP) station will open for passenger service on 23 November 2014 (Sunday).

2.       The newest station on the North-South Line will serve Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, Marina South Pier, as well as future developments in the Marina Bay Downtown area. The opening of the station will benefit commuters, in particular, cruise passengers travelling to and from the cruise centre.

3.       On weekday mornings, during peak hours, train service to the Marina South Pier station will run at approximately 8 to 12-minute intervals. This works out to one in every four southbound trains proceeding to MSP station from Marina Bay station; the other three in four southbound trains will turn around at Marina Bay station so that commuters on the more crowded stretches of the North-South Line can enjoy shorter train headways. At other times, including weekends and public holidays, train services to MSP will run at approximately 15-minute intervals. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will work with SMRT to improve train frequencies at times when the MSP receives more passengers, such as when cruise ships call at the cruise centre during off-peak periods or during the annual Kusu pilgrimage season. LTA will also work with SMRT to review train operations in the future based on the ridership for the station and developments near the station.
