Chartered Buses to Malaysia

Singapore-Registered Buses to Malaysia

Singapore-registered excursion buses may be chartered to provide transport to and from Malaysia. These buses can pick passengers up and drop them off at any location arranged with the bus company (subject to traffic rules) - there are no fixed stops.

These buses operating in Malaysia must have valid permits / licences issued by the Malaysia Land Public Transport Agency, APAD, and may operate throughout Malaysia, with a licensed Malaysian tour guide onboard.

Malaysia-Registered Buses to Singapore

Malaysia-registered excursion buses (Bas Persiaran) operate under different regulations. They can only:

-          Bring tourists from Malaysia to visit Singapore; and

-          Take the same group of tourists back to Malaysia, or drop them off in Singapore

Malaysian-registered excursion buses are not allowed to pick up passengers who start their trip from Singapore to Malaysia.

Check out the list of Singapore-registered bus companies (PDF, 79kB) for examples of Singapore bus companies that provide chartered services to Malaysia. This information serves as a general guide only and does not include all available operators. Travellers should verify details directly with their respective bus operator before travelling.

Cross-border Bus Services

Cross-border Bus Services (CBS) are scheduled bus services operating between Singapore and Johor Bahru.

Each CBS is permitted to have only one stopping point in the host country, while they can have multiple stopping points in their home country.

Check out the list of CBS (PDF, 60 kB) and their stopping points in Singapore and Malaysia. Travellers may contact the bus operators directly for more information on the operating hours, frequency and exact stop locations.

Intercity Express Bus Services

Intercity Express Bus Services (IEBS) are scheduled bus services  travelling between Singapore and destinations in Malaysia beyond Johor Bahru. Currently, only Malaysian bus operators operate these services.  Each IEBS is permitted to have only one stopping point in Singapore.

Check out the list of approved stopping points in Singapore for IEBS, and the list of operators and their ticketing agents providing IEBS at these locations (PDF, 136kB).

Please contact the bus operators/ ticketing agents directly for more information on the bus services.

Cross-border P2P services between Singapore and Malaysia are currently limited to licensed Singapore-registered and Malaysia-registered taxis only. Private Hire Cars (PHCs) are not allowed to provide cross-border point-to-point services for hire and reward purposes.

Taxis licensed to provide cross-border services are allowed to pick-up or drop-off passengers anywhere within their respective countries but are required to use the designated terminal after crossing the border. This arrangement helps ensure that the cross-border taxis do not ply the roads illegally.

These licensed taxis are available for hire at the designated terminal at Ban San Street in Singapore and Johor Larkin Sentral in Malaysia.
