Commuters taking public transport to the Geylang Serai Bazaar to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri will enjoy Hari Raya-themed trains, stations as well as buses featuring Malay art and cultural icons such as flowers, crescents and ketupat motifs, from today (8 June 2018) until 7 July 2018.

This year’s festivities have been extended beyond trains to include five themed buses on Services 28, 70, 76, 154 and 197 which will ply through Geylang Serai and areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Jurong East, Tampines and Toa Payoh to bring the festive cheer to the heartlands. For the first time, the Integrated Transport Hubs (ITHs) in Bedok and Boon Lay will also be decked out in Hari Raya embellishments to drum up the celebratory spirit of the festive season.
3. These Hari Raya-themed trains, stations and buses are part of the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) collaboration with SBS Transit, SMRT and the Geylang Serai Constituency. Collaborating with community to create themed trains, buses, stations and ITHs is part of LTA’s efforts to improve the commuting experience and foster a positive commuter culture.
4. The two Hari Raya themed trains – one on the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) and the other on the Downtown Line (DTL) – were launched today. Commuters will also enjoy a Hari Raya-themed station at Paya Lebar MRT on the East-West Line.
5. This morning, Associate Professor Fatimah Lateef, Adviser to Marine Parade GRC GROs, took a themed train from Pasir Ris MRT station to Paya Lebar MRT station to greet commuters and bask in the festive cheer.
