The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the contract to design and construct a stretch of the North-South Corridor (NSC) to Penta-Ocean Construction Co Ltd – Bachy Soletanche Singapore Pte Ltd Joint Venture, at a contract sum of about S$795 million. Works on this contract are expected to commence by the first quarter of 2019.
Scope of Contract for Tunnel between Suffolk Walk and Novena Rise
2. Penta-Ocean Construction Co Ltd – Bachy Soletanche Singapore Pte Ltd Joint Venture (Penta-Bachy JV) will design and construct a 1.04km stretch of tunnel and commuter facilities – including an underground pedestrian network, pedestrian overhead bridges, bus stops, sheltered walkways and cycling paths – between Suffolk Walk and Novena Rise. Please refer to Annex A for the location of this section of the NSC to be constructed.
3. Penta-Bachy JV is currently involved in the construction of Thomson–East Coast Line Orchard station.
4. Penta-Ocean Construction Co Ltd, an established construction company in Japan, is currently involved in the construction of Thomson–East Coast Line Woodlands North and Bright Hill stations. The company was also involved in the construction of the Downtown Line Bendemeer station and a section of the Marina Coastal Expressway.
5. Bachy Soletanche Singapore Pte Ltd is a specialist in geotechnical and civil engineering works. Their previous civil projects with LTA include the construction of the Bugis and Telok Ayer stations for Downtown Line.
About the NSC
6. The 21.5km NSC is Singapore’s first integrated transport corridor, featuring continuous bus lanes and at-grade cycling trunk routes, to serve public bus commuters, cyclists and pedestrians, in line with our car-lite vision. Please refer to Annex B for the NSC alignment.
