Get an Immersive, Interactive Glimpse into the Future of Mobility

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially launched the new SG Mobility Gallery (“The Gallery”) on 19 September 2018. Spread over an area of 1,000 square metres, the Gallery features seven exhibition zones that showcase various facets of Singapore’s dynamic and comprehensive land transport system. The Gallery gives a behind-the-scenes look at how LTA plans, designs and builds our transport system while balancing efficiency, liveability and inclusivity as it leverages technology for smarter urban mobility.

2.  The Gallery makes use of technology to create a rich and immersive learning experience for visitors. On arrival, visitors will be greeted by the Gallery’s virtual host Jamie, who will provide information on the Gallery, to enable easy navigation and exploration of the exhibits. Visitors can look forward to a host of interactive activities, such as taking on the role of a transport planner and trying their hands at planning an efficient and sustainable transport network through multi-sensory exhibits.

3.  A 270-degree theatre provides a panoramic view into the work that goes on behind the scenes in running Singapore’s land transport system. Through augmented reality, visitors get a glimpse into how public transport workers such as rail engineers and bus technicians use technology in their work. Another highlight is a life-sized hands-free fare gate, currently being trialled at selected MRT stations, which enables commuters to enter and exit the train stations without the need to tap their fare cards.

4.  Also taking centre stage is the Land Transport Hero Academy, where children can find out more about the unsung heroes of land transport and the critical roles they perform through interactive exhibits and games. Children will also be able to learn how everyone plays a part in contributing to a safe and pleasant journey.

5.  Visitors hoping to take home a piece of the land transport system will be spoilt for choice at LTA’s flagship Knackstop store, where they can purchase merchandise from a carefully curated collection of creative and practical keepsakes inspired by our public transport system, including the ever-popular Our Thoughtful Characters. Net sales proceeds go to the LTA Cares Fund, a fund dedicated to the transport needs of the disadvantaged.

6.  Located at LTA’s office at Hampshire Road, the Gallery is open on Mondays to Fridays, from 9.30am to 5pm, as well as on Saturday mornings for pre-arranged community visits. Admission is free. SG Mobility Gallery exhibition zones

Zone 1: Entrance & Land Transport Hero Academy

Visitors will be greeted by the Gallery’s virtual host Jamie, who will provide information on the Gallery’s exhibits, as well as real-time updates on foot traffic in each zone to help visitors freely and easily navigate the Gallery.

Located next to the entrance, the Land Transport Hero Academy introduces the unsung heroes of land transport and the critical role they perform in an interactive and aspirational way to children aged 7 years old and below.

Zone 2: Moving Singapore

Singapore’s transport system, which connects millions of commuters to their destinations each day, is managed using various smart, technological solutions. This zone houses an interactive game for up to four players, which allows visitors to assume the role of a land transport operations centre executive, to manage congestion along Singapore's road network.

Zone 3: Connected Towns of Tomorrow

Given Singapore’s land constraints, built-up urban environment and high population density, this exhibit highlights the trade-offs that need to be made by transport planners in striving to optimise transport efficiency while enhancing convenience and inclusivity. Visitors gain first-hand experience in planning and managing Singapore’s transport system through a multi-sensory game.

Zone 4: Future Mobility

This exhibit highlights how LTA taps on technology to achieve an efficient, inclusive and seamless transport system. LTA’s Future Concept Bus, Singapore’s vision for Autonomous Vehicles, Smart Lamp Posts, Hands-free Ticketing System and Future Traffic Management System are featured in this zone.

Zone 5: Future Forward

This zone houses an immersive 270-degree projection panorama which takes visitors on a behind-the-scenes tour of the various features of Singapore’s future land transport system.

Zone 6: Experience Zone

This zone highlights the contributions and commitment of our public transport workers by enhancing visitors’ understanding of their day-to-day work through a range of experiential activities that employ augmented reality technology.

Zone 7: Changing Gallery & Knackstop Shop

The final zone of the Gallery features a pledge wall which encourages visitors to share their aspirations, thoughts and stories to evoke a sense of shared responsibility, collective ownership and appreciation for Singapore’s land transport system.
