More Trains Added to Serve Punggol East, Sengkang West and Sengkang East Loops
Commuters taking the LRT on the Punggol West Loop will enjoy faster rides and shorter waiting times with the commencement of bi-directional services from 29 Sep 2018. The bi-directional services are expected to significantly reduce travel time and crowding during peak hours.
2. With bi-directional services in place, residents served by the Punggol West Loop will enjoy significant time savings as they no longer have to travel in the opposite direction from their destination. This will shorten the typical morning peak hour journey on the LRT from Sam Kee to Punggol Town Centre station by about 15 minutes.
Increased capacity to meet growing transport needs of Sengkang and Punggol
3. To further keep pace with developments in these areas, SBS Transit will enhance LRT services for the Punggol East, Sengkang West and Sengkang East Loops by injecting an additional single-car train, or by running a two-car train instead of a single-car train at selected times of the day. The increased capacity enables the SPLRT to better serve the growing ridership in Sengkang and Punggol.
4. On Sundays when certain stretches along one direction of the SPLRT open later due to maintenance and asset renewal works, commuters will still be able to use train services in the opposite direction.
