The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has rolled out a public education campaign in partnership with the four public bus operators[1] to promote safe travelling habits when taking public buses.
2 The campaign aims to increase public awareness of safe passenger behaviour during bus journeys. Besides leveraging technology[2] to provide passengers with a safe bus ride, passengers should also play their part by adopting safe travelling habits, such as
- Do not rush to board the bus;
- Mind your step;
- Hold onto handrail when standing on bus;
- Commuters with mobility needs should remain seated when the bus is moving; and
- Be gracious and give up your seat to those who need it more.
3 Safety is our top priority. The public bus operators will reach out to commuters by deploying staff at bus interchanges to share the key safety messages with them. Posters and brochures in four official languages will also be distributed at bus interchanges and on public buses. In addition, audio messages will be played on public buses that are equipped with speakers. These messages will remind passengers to hold on to the handrail or to remain seated when the bus is moving.
