Concession cardholders[1], except those holding Primary, Secondary and Junior College/Millennia Institute Student Concession cards (or School Smart Cards), now have the option to upgrade their existing concession card to a SimplyGo Concession card at TransitLink Ticket Offices or ticketing machines. Adults holding the Adults Monthly Travel Cards will similarly be able to upgrade their existing cards. Student Concession cardholders will be able to upgrade their cards to the SimplyGo Concession cards from 2023 onwards.
2. The upgraded card will allow around two million card holders or their caregivers to top up the concession card without having to go to a top-up machine or station, and to track expenditure via remote means such as using a mobile app. The move to include concession card holders follows an earlier pilot programme involving 1,300 concession cardholders. The participants appreciated the benefits of SimplyGo Concession cards. These include being able to use the EZ-Link mobile app to track their travel history and top up their cards anytime, anywhere. Caregivers also appreciated being able to top up their dependents’ SimplyGo Concession card remotely via the app and to block a lost card from being used.
3. Commuters using the SimplyGo Concession cards will continue to enjoy the same concession fares. As card holders will not be able to immediately see their fare deduction and card balance at MRT fare gates and bus readers, they can download the accompanying EZ-Link app to receive the information through push notifications.
