Commuters can earn travel rewards on designated bus services during morning peak hours
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will resume the Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ) initiative and expand its coverage to five more bus services serving commuters in the North-East region of Singapore.
2 TSJ began as a trial in February 2020 on Bus Service 43e, which serves major employment centres in MacPherson, Paya Lebar and Marine Parade. The initiative aimed to distribute peak hour public transport demand by encouraging commuters to adopt alternative modes of travel. After reviewing the programme and taking into account travel patterns in the last two years, LTA has decided to expand TSJ to encourage more North East Line (NEL) commuters to switch to bus services for their morning commutes.
3 The expanded TSJ initiative commences on 20 March. It will benefit residents in Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok and Hougang who commute to workplaces in eastern and central parts of Singapore. Besides Service 43e, City Direct Services 654, 660, 666, 671 and 672 will now be included in this initiative.
4 To be eligible for this initiative, commuters must register for TSJ via the TransitLink SimplyGo Portal or TL SimplyGo app. They must have also tapped in on at least four weekdays (excluding public holidays) at one of the NEL Punggol, Sengkang, Buangkok or Hougang MRT station, or any station along the Punggol and Sengkang LRT lines, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. within the last 30 calendar days prior to the day of registration. By switching to Bus Services 43e, 654, 660, 666, 671 or 672 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on weekdays, eligible commuters will receive 150 points (equivalent to $1.50) per ride upon reaching their destinations at Tai Seng, MacPherson, Paya Lebar, Parkway Parade, Shenton Way or Marina Boulevard. For details of these bus routes, please refer to Annex A.
5 Commuters who use these bus services regularly can potentially offset more than half their bus fares by using the points they earn. The points can be redeemed in 500-point blocks (equivalent to $5.00) into their travel cards
