We thank Mr Long Jidong and Ms Lin Qiting for their feedback on the tactile tiles located before pedestrian crossings on 10 May 2023 and 15 May 2023 respectively. We share similar priorities in enhancing safety and accessibility for pedestrians.
Tactile paving plays an important role in making our streets safer and more accessible for pedestrians with visual impairments.
LTA is working with the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) to explore how we can improve the layout of tactile tiles. We are also studying alternative tactile tile materials that could improve skid resistance and durability. We will provide further updates on these initiatives when available.
For zebra crossings, the markings are made with thermoplastic materials of prevailing safety standards, including skid resistance. Nonetheless, we will be reaching out to Ms Lin to better understand her feedback regarding the potential slipperiness of zebra crossings markings.
LTA will continue to work closely with the community to balance the various needs of commuters, so everyone can enjoy safer and more inclusive commutes.
