New Buangkok Bus Interchange to Start Operations on 1 December 2024

News Releases 01 Nov 2024 bus interchange Integrated Transport Hub (ITH)

Commuters in the north-eastern region can look forward to more convenient transfers and better connectivity with the opening of Buangkok Bus Interchange (BI) on Sunday, 1 December 2024. Operated by SBS Transit Ltd, the BI is integrated with Sengkang Grand Mall and Buangkok MRT station, making it Singapore’s 12th Integrated Transport Hub (ITH).

Bus Route Amendments

2.        Buangkok BI will commence operations with three bus services – Services 110, 114 and 156.  Besides bringing nearby residents to the ITH and nearby amenities, these bus services connect to Sengkang East Avenue and Anchorvale in Sengkang Town, and further to Changi Airport, Serangoon, and Bishan. The new BI can accommodate seven bus services in total, and new routes will be introduced progressively in tandem with upcoming developments in the area.

3.        Services 110 and 156 are being relocated from Compassvale BI and Sengkang BI respectively, while Service 114 currently has its first boarding and last alighting points at the bus stops along Sengkang Central. With the opening of Buangkok BI and the relocation of Service 110, Compassvale BI will cease operations. The only other service at Compassvale BI, Service 374, will be relocated to Sengkang BI, with no change to its stopping points.

4.        Information on the amendments to Services 110, 114, 156 and 374 will be available at all relevant bus stops, BIs, and the bus operators’ websites. Commuters can also approach public transport staff for assistance. For further details of the route changes, please refer to the respective posters in the Annex.

5.        We seek commuters’ understanding that our bus operators may require some time to familiarise themselves with the operations of the new BI. Bus operators, with support from LTA, will monitor the situation closely and make necessary adjustments to ensure smooth bus journeys for commuters.

Commuter-Friendly Features

6.        Buangkok BI is designed with inclusivity in mind, with features catering to families with young children, seniors, as well as those with mobility challenges. It will feature barrier-free access at entrances and a dedicated priority queue zone with seating at all boarding berths.

7.        There will also be a wheelchair-accessible toilet and a baby care room for parents, both equipped with touchless, auto-sliding doors. The accessible toilet will also have audio cues to alert users when the doors are opening and closing. A commuter care room is available for those who may require a quiet and calming space.

8.        Besides the commuter-friendly facilities, the BI will also include dedicated facilities for staff, such as a canteen, staff toilets, a cleaner’s room and a staff lounge. To support sustainability, the BI will also incorporate energy-saving features such as LED lights, a more energy-efficient aircon system, water-saving taps and motion sensor lights.
