We note Mr Michael J. Coleman's feedback ("Address peak-hour gridlock at Raffles Quay", 26 September 2025) and have adjusted traffic light timings in the Raffles Quay area to reduce delays.
Traffic conditions vary day to day depending on travel patterns and occasional incidents. Traffic light arrangement is carefully balanced to give more priority to vehicles coming from Central Boulevard to Cross Street, due to the heavier traffic compared to the right turn from Raffles Quay into Cross Street. If more priority was given to the right turn, congestion overall could be worsened, because the short distance to the downstream Robinson Road junction limits the space available for vehicles to enter Cross Street.
During peak hours, motorists may consider using public transport where possible to alleviate congestion and support a greener transport option.
LTA will continue to monitor the traffic conditions and make adjustments where necessary to balance the competing demands of road users.
