We thank Mr Mohamad Nurhafiz Mohd Noor for his feedback (Agencies must demonstrate that feedback leads to meaningful evaluation, Nov 6).

We recognise the importance of responding meaningfully to public feedback, and assure Mr Nurhafiz that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) takes all feedback seriously.

Each case is assessed on its site-specific conditions, and where feasible, infrastructure improvements are implemented. LTA works closely with other agencies to address feedback that involves different areas, but in some instances, we would have to redirect the feedback to other agencies if the issue is under their direct purview.

Over the past year, LTA has introduced more than 1,000 road design enhancements across Singapore.

As Mr Nurhafiz has highlighted, his feedback on vegetation obstructing visibility was followed up on. We are also introducing new road markings to visually narrow the road to alert motorists to slow down when approaching the crossing. These works will be completed by this month.

We agree that safety goes beyond visibility and enforcement. Road safety is a shared responsibility of all road users. While LTA continues to make design improvements, motorists should obey traffic signals, stay alert when approaching junctions, and slow down to give way to pedestrians at zebra crossings.

Pedestrians should also be vigilant of their surroundings and be aware of approaching vehicles. Together, we can have safer roads for all.
