We thank the writer for his feedback on the arrangement of bus interchange berths according to bus service numbers (交流站：按巴士号码顺序规划巴士转换站候车处, 28 July). We understand his concerns and would like to share the considerations that guide how bus services are allocated to berths. 

Where possible, services plying the same road corridor after leaving the interchange are grouped together. This allows commuters who are travelling to a common sector to wait for multiple bus services and board whichever bus comes first. Variant services and their parent services, such as Service 901M and 901, also share the same berth for this reason. 

As bus frequencies and ridership are not uniform, we also spread out busier and more frequent bus services to avoid long queues of commuters and buses at some berths, while leaving other berths underused. 

Together, these measures ensure that berth assignments support smooth and efficient operations, while ensuring commuter convenience. We seek commuters’ understanding that due to such efforts to improve waiting experience and ensure smoother traffic, we generally do not group services by service number. 

To help commuters navigate bus interchanges, signage and information panels are placed throughout the premises. Commuters who are unable to locate their bus service can approach staff at the Passenger Service Office for assistance.
