Slated for completion in 2034, the Changi Southern Corridor will support the future Changi Airport Terminal 5 (T5) and developments at Changi East. Works will include the reconfiguration of the existing Changi Flyover and Tanah Merah Flyover, and road enhancements to Pan Island Expressway (PIE), East Coast Parkway (ECP), Tanah Merah Coast Road (TMCR) and Xilin Avenue.
These road improvements will:
- Enhance the multi-modal connectivity of the Changi region;
- Support the growth and development of Changi’s aviation sector; and
- Improve access to and from Changi Airport to ECP and PIE/TPE, and between TMCR and PIE through ECP/PIE and will complement the Changi Northern Corridor in providing motorists with an alternative travel route to the region.
Cyclists will also enjoy 3.5km of new cycling paths along Xilin Avenue and Tanah Merah Coast Road, in tandem with the enhancements to the road network. These cycling paths will complement the existing Park Connector Network and on-road cycling lanes to connect Tampines and East Coast to T5. Pedestrians, cyclists and other active mobility users can enjoy safer and more comfortable journeys.
