No overseas travel? No problem. Plan a homeground holiday on our sunny island with your family or friends and rediscover Singapore!

There is no better time like now to embrace an active lifestyle while having fun. Here are some specially curated cycling routes that you can check out while on your bike, and make a pit stop – or eight – and discover these local hidden gems along Singapore for a wheelie good time!

1. Admiralty Park Playground (Woodlands)

For a change of gears, get off your bike and slide down one of Singapore’s tallest tube slides at the Admiralty Park Playground in Woodlands. Hurtling down the metallic 23m-long Double Barrelled slides promises another adrenaline rush after a long bike ride. This 6 to 13km loop around Woodlands takes you through the entire park and up towards the Woodlands Waterfront Park for an easy, breezy ride.

2. Yishun Pond Park Observation Tower (Yishun)

After completing this 13km route around Yishun, climb the stairs of the Yishun Pond Park Observation Tower for your reward: a beautiful bird’s eye view of a splendid waterfront promenade, lush greenery and lots of flora and fauna.

3. Recycle Hill (Ang Mo Kio)

Contrary to its name, the Recycle Hill is not an actual hill, but an outdoor concrete sculpture found at the beautiful Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. But it stays true to the spirit of recycling. Shaped like a skeletal body, the sculpture serves as a reminder of what the park used to be with its foundation made up of concrete slabs salvaged from old Kallang canal.

Be sure to check out the hidden swing within the sculpture itself, before continuing on your 7 to 16km loop that may take you all the way to Macritchie Reservoir.

4. Lorong Halus Bridge (Punggol – Sengkang)

It might not be as famous as the Helix Bridge in Marina Bay, but the rustic Lorong Halus Bridge in Punggol has arguably more character. The red, geometric-shaped bridge connects cyclists riding the 10 to 17km loop around Punggol to the Lorong Halus Wetland. Bike there at sunrise or sunset for an Insta-worthy shot and drink in the tranquil view.

5. Lone Tree (Jurong)

Spoiler alert: The Lone Tree is not actually a tree. Instead, it is a sculpture fashioned from recycled iron parts that pays homage to Jurong’s industrial past. Standing in the middle of an open field, it is a favourite spot for birds of prey to scan the horizons for their next meal. The 4 to 13km Jurong route, which takes you through the majestic Jurong Lake Gardens, is one of the most scenic cycling paths in the west. Perfect for both novice and seasoned riders.

6. Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant (Geylang)

This is Singapore’s latest rooftop with a view. After biking through the East Coast Park connector on this 13 to 16km loop, make a pit stop at the Green Roof of the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant for some wondrous views of the city. It’ll definitely make all that cycling worth it!

7. Inscription of the Island (Pasir Ris – Changi)

What is it pointing at? This giant hand is a bronze sculpture that no one seems able to put a finger on. Still, this intriguing landmark at Changi Beach Park is a good spot to wrap up a 22km route that winds through two scenic beach parks – the other being Pasir Ris Park.

8. Pang Sua Pond (Bukit Gombak – Bukit Panjang)

Before cycling over to the better known Little Guilin in Bukit Batok Town Park, check out the equally picturesque Pang Sua Pond in Bukit Panjang on this 9 to 13km route. Home to Singapore’s second-largest man-made floating wetland system, it has since become a haven for birds and aquatic wildlife – as well as nature lovers.

North, South, East or West – there are always beautiful sights to enjoy around Singapore. Just remember to do pre-ride safety checks before you head off to ensure your bike is working well (for one, ensure your phone is securely mounted on your bicycle’s handlebar), wear a helmet and you’re all set to ride!

Did you know? There are over 460km of cycling paths that criss-cross Singapore today, and we have plans to expand this network to 1,300km by 2030.

With such a connected cycling network, you can get anywhere with ease! This is part of our Walk Cycle Ride vision, where everyone gets to commute around the island by walking, cycling, or taking public transport.
