The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is planning to repurpose a 1km section of rail viaduct near Tanah Merah MRT station and the spaces beneath it, when it is decommissioned in 2026. Instead of demolishing this 1km stretch on the East-West Line, the goal is to transform it into a green and active mobility corridor for the public to enjoy. In addition to the rail viaduct, LTA is also looking to transform the existing Changi Depot, which will also be decommissioned into an attractive and vibrant destination for all.

"Transforming the Tanah Merah MRT Viaduct into Community Spaces" is an Open Call for Ideas organised by LTA. We have invited the public to submit creative ideas for the repurposing of the Tanah Merah MRT Viaduct and Changi Depot to transform these spaces into an attractive and vibrant destination. The ideas received will serve as an inspiration for the design of these spaces.
