Public Transport Safety and Security Awards

The Public Transport Safety and Security Awards (PTSSA) is an annual event organised to recognise Public Transport Operators (PTOs), Point-to-Point (P2P) operators and the workers for their efforts in ensuring safety and security in our Public Transport (PT) network. There is a total of five award categories under the PTSSA:

Operational Safety Award (Point-to-Point Operator)

Star Award
Bus Captain Safe Driving Award (Newly added in 2026)

For the Operator Awards, an Excellence and Merit Award will be given to the top 2 bus packages, rail lines and P2P operators that have achieved good safety records. For the PT Workers Awards, the nominated candidates will be awarded for their vigilant and spontaneous one-off act with significant impact that prevented a safety or security incident through the Special Commendation Award, as well as for their ground-up efforts to improve the safety and security of the PT network through the Star Award. The Bus Captain Safe Driving Award recognises bus captains who have maintained safe driving records for one, two, five and ten years since the introduction of the Bus Contracting Model in 2016.

Since its inception in 2022, the Public Transport Safety and Security Awards recognised many Public Transport Workers and Operators over the years. In its fifth edition in 2026, over 500 public transport workers were celebrated for their outstanding safety contributions.

The ceremony, held on 21 August 2026 at One Punggol, saw Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Transport, honoured individuals who had gone above and beyond to protect commuters across Singapore's expanding transport network. For the first time, award recipients were joined by their family members, in recognition of their invaluable support to allow our public transport workers to give their best to keep commuters safe and secure.

This year also saw the inauguration of the Bus Captain Safe Driving Award, introduced as part of the BSTT's recommendations to recognise bus captains who had maintained safe driving records for one, two, five and ten years since the introduction of the Bus Contracting Model in 2016. More than 5,000 bus captains were honoured under this new award. Award recipients received a safe driving badge and monetary incentives ranging from $200 to $2,000, with higher amounts awarded for longer periods of safe driving. Higher tier awards such as fifteen and twenty-years of safe driving, will be introduced in subsequent years.
