The Singapore Bus Academy (SGBA) was launched on 17 October 2016 as an anchor initiative of the Public Bus Industry Manpower Plan. The SGBA is a centralised academy that offers enhanced training to the public bus sector workforce through foundational and refresher courses. Advanced-level modules are also offered for continuous training and deepening of skills.

SGBA is also a dedicated career resource centre for the public bus industry, offering information on career options and proficiency requirements for interested applicants.

Enhanced Vocational Licence Training Programme

Bus technicians play an integral role in ensuring public buses perform optimally for safe and reliable journeys. The Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge, was launched on 15 November 2021 and is an inaugural event jointly organised by the SGBA and the NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i). Proposed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in early 2021, the idea for a challenge was intended to promote a culture of technical excellence across the bus industry. It also aims to raise technical skills and standards and to recognise the star bus technicians. Check out the highlights for Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge 2021 (PDF, 6MB).

The next Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge is scheduled to be held towards the end of 2022. Interested parties may check this page for updates.
