Increased cycling network and connectivity

Besides expanding the existing cycling network by 16km, the new cycling network will also include a 2.6km walking and cycling corridor along the MRT viaduct between Yio Chu Kang MRT station and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. The cycling path will also be linked to the North-South Corridor as an option for residents who wish to cycle from their home straight to the City.

The cycling path will also be integrated with the upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line MRT stations in Ang Mo Kio, completed with secured bike-parking facilities. This gives commuters an option to cycle as a means for first-mile-last-mile connectivity.

Safer and more comfortable journeys to transport nodes

An elevated walking and cycling bridge running alongside the MRT viaduct will be provided allowing residents to walk and cycle seamlessly and safely towards Ang Mo Kio MRT station. The elevated connection will bypass the heavy traffic activities at street-level thus providing a more comfortable journey for everyone.

As the proposed cycling bridge is located directly within the future Cross Island Line (CRL) station, to ensure safety during construction, the cycling bridge will be constructed in tandem with the construction of the CRL MRT station.
