Hop on, roll out — baby’s ride just got breezier.
Baby on Board? No Biggie!

Once new parents have made it through pregnancy and labour, new experiences beckon such as taking your baby out to see the world (or Singapore at least)! There’ll come a time when you’ll want to venture further than your void deck and neighbourhood, but the thought of braving public transport with a little one may seem daunting.
Worry not, because our buses, trains and interchanges have our young families in mind.
Read this handy manual on the inclusive features within our public transport network, and start pencilling family outings, playdates and those long-awaited catch ups with friends into your calendar!
#1: Boarding the Bus
As our bus stops have evolved over the years, we’re making them more accessible for young families with strollers.
You can mount your stroller up the bus fairly easily at most bus shelters (except for those at five-foot ways) and board the bus from either the front door or back door. When boarding from the back door, please signal the bus captains early so they can assist you if needed.
Signal to the bus captains then tap your travel card at the rear door of buses once you’ve settled your stroller into the designated stroller parking space, or if you’re boarding the bus from the back. Chill out and don’t worry about having to make your way to the front just to tap – bus captains will be understanding that you’ve got your hands filled.
On crowded buses, bus captains may request that you fold your stroller, hence do not load your stroller or use it as a grocery trolley. Whenever possible, we suggest planning your rides such that you avoid peak travel hours for more ease. Feel free to approach bus captains if you need help with bringing up your stroller.
#2: Inside the Bus
All buses and trains have designated spaces for parents to park their strollers.
Use these spaces instead of placing your stroller in the aisles, entries or exits so that the ride will be safe for all. Engage the brakes on the stroller so their wheels aren’t the ones going round and round.
Once you’ve boarded the bus, do use the restraints provided to secure your stroller further.
Buses and trains can accommodate strollers that are maximum 120cm long and 70cm wide. Anything bigger will need to be folded. Keep this in mind before heading out!
#3: Enjoy Priority Boarding
Play a game of “I Spy with My Little Eye” with your little one to keep them occupied as you navigate our public transport!
Keep your eyes peeled for blue stickers marking priority queue zones around MRT and LRT stations as well as at bus interchanges. These zones are reserved for seniors, people with disabilities and young families with strollers so that you don’t have to jostle with crowds to get into trains and buses.
#4: Mind the Gap?
Where possible. rubber fillers are used to plug the gap between platforms and trains, so you don’t have to worry about your stroller wheels getting stuck – eeks! If you need help, our station staff and service ambassadors will gladly lend a hand.
Always use the train station lifts when travelling with a stroller for better safety! Riding up and down the escalator with a stroller is risky for both baby and fellow commuters.
#5: Baby Care Rooms
Oops, is your baby cranky because they need a diaper change now? Baby care rooms and diaper changing stations are available at our newest bus interchanges (such as Jurong East, Yishun and Bukit Panjang) and MRT stations. You won’t have to hold your breath until you reach home or the nearest nursing room in shopping malls anymore!
As we design and build new public transport infrastructure and refresh older ones, we’re transforming our network to become even more baby-friendly. We love connecting young families to places, and admiring little babies’ cute and curious faces as they enjoy the ride!
