What is car-sharing?
Car-sharing is an on-demand personal transport service that gives users access to a fleet of vehicles for a short and variable period of time. Users have:
- access to a private car without having to own one.
- the cost flexibility associated with taking a taxi.
Who can benefit from car-sharing?
Anyone who only needs a car occasionally may benefit from car-sharing.
How much does it cost?
Unlike conventional car rentals, car-sharing offers users the flexibility to use a vehicle on an hourly or daily basis based on their travelling needs. They can choose different types of vehicles to fit their needs. The user only pays for what he uses based on the time and distance travelled.
For a sedan car, the hourly cost is in the range of S$8 to S$14.
Where can I find car-sharing services?
Currently, there are about 300 car-sharing vehicles located in over 100 locations in Singapore. LTA is working closely with HDB and car-sharing operators to provide more locations across the island to make it more convenient for users to access a car-sharing service in the near future.
Further details on car-sharing in Singapore can be found at Car-Sharing Association of Singapore website.
How do I get started?
You need to sign up as a member with one of the car-sharing operators. Information on the individual car-sharing operators can be found on:
